A few months back the bajaj pulsar 220 roared off with the first ever Indian Motorcycle of the year (Imoty) award conferred on it by a jury of motocycle journalist from leading Indian automobile publications. The jury included Rishad Cooper (Autocar India) Aspi Bhatene (Bike India), Shubhabrata Marmar (BS Motoring) and girish karkera (Top Gear India) Judging of the award in its maiden year.

The 220 beat the competition featuring the Bajaj XCD125 DTS-Si, Baiaj 200DTS-i, Bajaj Avenger 200 DTS-i, Bajaj Discover 135 D TS-j. Hero Honda Hunk, Hero Honda Splendor NXG, Rot al Enfield Bullet LB 500 and TVS Apache 160 RTR.

The motorcycles short-listed were either launched in 2007 or had significant mechanical changes altering the positioning of the bike.

Speaking on the occasion, director - marketing, JXTyre & Industries Ltd, A S Matti said, "This award truly reflects the choice of the experienced At JKTIyre, it has always been out endeavour to associate and award the excellence in auto industry, be it motor-sport or a class product."
